.indd File — Adobe InDesign Document

INDD is the native document format for Adobe InDesign, the industry-standard desktop publishing application used for creating professional print and digital layouts. INDD files contain complete page layouts including text frames, image placements, vector graphics, master pages, paragraph and character styles, tables, table of contents definitions, cross-references, and color swatches. The format supports CMYK, spot colors, and mixed ink groups essential for commercial printing, along with transparency, blending modes, and advanced typographic features like optical kerning, OpenType features, and nested styles. InDesign documents can span hundreds of pages and are used for books, magazines, newspapers, brochures, annual reports, and packaging design. INDD files link to external assets (images, fonts) rather than embedding them, keeping file sizes manageable for large projects.
