Hong Kong Time (HKT) is UTC+8 year-round. Hong Kong discontinued DST in 1979. As a Special Administrative Region of China, Hong Kong shares the same UTC offset as the mainland but maintains its own IANA timezone identifier and distinct civil administration. Hong Kong is one of the world's premier financial centers — the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) is the fifth-largest globally by market capitalization.
