About Serbia (RS)
Serbia is a landlocked Balkan country in southeastern Europe. Belgrade, the capital, sits at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers and is one of Europe's oldest cities. Serbia received its current ISO 3166-1 code (RS) in 2006 after Montenegro's independence dissolved the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro (which had used CS). The Serbian Dinar (RSD) is the currency. For developers, the RS country code maps to the sr-RS locale for Serbian β crucially, Serbian is one of the few languages that uses both Cyrillic and Latin scripts in everyday life, and applications should ideally support both. The .rs domain replaced .yu (Yugoslavia), and +381 is the dialing code. Serbia's dual-script usage (Cyrillic officially, Latin commonly) means text rendering and input must handle both seamlessly. The RS code's assignment after the CS code was retired is an example of ISO 3166-1 code changes. Serbia's growing tech sector, particularly in Belgrade and Novi Sad, has produced companies like Nordeus.
