East Africa Time (Dar es Salaam)

Tanzania uses East Africa Time (EAT) at UTC+3. Dar es Salaam, whose name means 'Haven of Peace' in Arabic, is Tanzania's largest city, main port, and commercial capital, though Dodoma has been the official capital since 1996. Tanzania is one of Africa's most biodiverse countries, home to Mount Kilimanjaro (Africa's highest peak), Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, and the spice island of Zanzibar. The Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange operates on EAT. Tanzania's economy is driven by agriculture, mining (gold, tanzanite — found nowhere else on Earth), tourism, and a growing manufacturing sector. The country shares EAT with its East African Community (EAC) partners — Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi — facilitating regional economic integration. Tanzania's population exceeds 65 million and is one of the youngest and fastest-growing on the continent. The country's Swahili language has become a lingua franca across East Africa. Arusha, northern Tanzania's gateway city, hosts the East African Court of Justice and is the starting point for Kilimanjaro climbs and Serengeti safaris.
