Morocco Time (Casablanca)

Morocco permanently adopted UTC+1 (Western European Summer Time equivalent) in 2018, ending its complex DST arrangement. Before this, Morocco would observe DST (UTC+1) but temporarily revert to UTC+0 during Ramadan to ease fasting hours, creating multiple clock changes per year — sometimes up to four. The 2018 reform simplified this by staying on UTC+1 year-round. Casablanca is Morocco's largest city and economic capital, while Rabat serves as the political capital. The Casablanca Stock Exchange is Africa's third-largest and one of the oldest. Morocco's strategic position at the northwestern tip of Africa, just 14 km from Spain across the Strait of Gibraltar, makes it a natural bridge between Europe and Africa. The country has become a major automotive manufacturing hub, with Renault and Stellantis operating large factories. Morocco's tourism industry — Marrakech, Fez, and the Sahara Desert — attracts millions annually. The timezone alignment with France (UTC+1 in winter) facilitates Morocco's strong economic ties with its former colonial power. Morocco's Tanger Med port has become one of the Mediterranean's busiest container terminals.
