About Rwanda (RW)
Rwanda is a small, densely populated country in the Great Lakes region of East Africa, often called the 'Land of a Thousand Hills.' Kigali, the capital, is widely regarded as one of Africa's cleanest and most innovative cities, hosting tech conferences and innovation hubs. Rwanda has transformed remarkably since the 1994 genocide, becoming a model for technology-driven development in Africa. The Rwandan Franc (RWF) has no subdivision. For developers, the RW country code maps to rw-RW for Kinyarwanda, en-RW for English, and fr-RW for French — Rwanda switched from French to English as a primary language of instruction in 2008 and recently added Swahili as a fourth official language. The .rw domain and +250 calling code serve Rwanda's digitally ambitious infrastructure. Rwanda's Irembo e-government platform and drone delivery system (Zipline) make it a showcase for digital innovation, and its developer-friendly policies attract tech investment throughout East Africa.
